Additional info: Monkey boots have been kind of a lingering itch that as a bootmaker, I just couldn’t scratch. Until now! With few of the remaining domestic producers venturing into the stylings of yesteryear, much of what I saw was emerging overseas is in the Japanese/Indonesian markets. Granted, there are a few USA made monkey options… but clearly not the sleekest looking versions by a good measure. So over the past few years my little dude was a Guinea Pig for all of my product development. Eventually the patterns became complex and quite similar to what I am used to working on. Basically just had to size them up and apply the metrics of patterns already fitted to the lasts we use, and presto!Dad has boots to match finally! That said, these were a trial pair to test the fitment and give a point of reference moving forward. So I will be bringing one more pair to the Dome, and that’s plenty.
