Hello, everyone! Welcome to another edition of the Patina Project Release Update—an eyelet-sized update where we summarize what's been in the works.
We've also included a rundown of the most frequent issues encountered when submitting contest photos. I'd like to thank everyone for bearing with us as we continue to evolve the platform to provide the best Patina Project experience possible. 🙇♂️

You can now leave comments on photos! This is a first step towards allowing you to provide even more helpful context to any boot photo, ask questions about an interesting pair, or just share some love! ❤️

🐞 Known Issues
Random sign outs
There is a known issue where users are being signed out for seemingly no reason! You can help us identify the problem by filling out this form. As soon as we identify the root cause, we will add the planned fix to our roadmap. This is also our segue into the next issue…
Trouble signing back into account
We've had frequent requests for assistance signing back into your Patina Project account. The most common cause of this is that our current system does not automagically link sign-ins using the same email address, but different methods.
To illustrate, let's say my email address is patina@gmail.com.
Create an account with using email and password with the patina@gmail.com email address.
Sign out.
Sign back in using Sign in with Google with the patina@gmail.com Google account.
Today, this would result in two, completely different accounts! 😱
We understand that this is not an ideal experience, and we are looking into the best way to improve this. You can track the progress in our roadmap. 🚀
For now, please sign in with the same method you used to create your Patina Project account.
Crash when uploading photos
We're happy to share that we've identified (and are able to reproduce) an issue related to uploading photos with large file sizes. We've added proper signage 🪧 in the photo upload section to warn you when the photos are BIG! 💥
For the best experience, please make sure photos are 8 MB or less. Note that we will not stop you from uploading photos above this threshold, and the app may crash if you attempt this.
Forcing you to leave the app to compress your photos is not the experience we want, and we are investigating ways to make handling large photos more seamless and stable.
